AN UPDATED MESSAGE FROM JAHC STAFF REGARDING COVID-19 CLOSURES AT THE JUNEAU ARTS AND CULTURE CENTER AND CENTENNIAL HALL: JULY 2, 2020

Dear Rental Client,

We thank you for your patience as we continue to work with CBJ on our community response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Both the Juneau Arts and Culture Center (the JACC), and Centennial Hall will continue being used by the City and Borough of Juneau as a low barrier shelter for those experiencing homelessness and a Quarantine and Isolation facility for the unsheltered population through the end of September 2020 and very likely through the end of December 2020.

For those with events currently scheduled in October through December, we ask that you start planning to have a plan B for your event location. There is a 75% chance that our facility will not be available those months.

For those who are needing to cancel their events outright, we will work with you on any next steps in regards to contracts and deposits. Please make sure to cancel your event in writing with our office manager for our records. All events canceled due to COVID-19 will be offered a full refund of your deposit, with no cancellation penalty. If yours is an annual event, we are also more than happy to apply this year’s deposit to next year’s event.

For those wishing to try a reschedule of your event, we will work with you to the best of our ability. But please do bear in mind that there are limited days available as there are many annual events that have already booked much of the available time. If you are able to be flexible about dates, and what days during the week you are willing to have your event, we may have better luck finding you a new date.

Please bear in mind that things do change on a dime with this pandemic, and times we might think are available can become unavailable or inadvisable depending on the course of the pandemic, state and local mandates and the possible continued alternate use of our facilities by CBJ.

In the meantime, Arts Council staff is working to create new policies and plans to have in place for once we do open that will work to help keep our clients and staff safe through social distancing, cleanliness and other provisions and measures. How we hold events in the future will likely change, so be prepared to work within the new guidelines. Now is also a great time for your group to think about what changes to your event format you can put in place to keep your participants safe as well. Working together we can continue to keep the instances of Covid-19 in Juneau as low as possible.

I would like to thank you again for your patience as we continue to navigate through these uncertain times. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our staff with any questions or concerns. I hope you are safe and well. We’ll see you all on the other side.
