(displaced) is a captivating and emotionally charged event that brings together eight talented spoken word and storytelling artists in Alaska. Through their unique narratives and powerful performances, these artists share their personal experiences of displacement, living in diaspora, and grappling with identity. This thought-provoking event aims to shed light on the diverse struggles faced by individuals who have been uprooted from their homes, exploring themes of loss, adaptation, resilience, and the search for belonging. Each artist brings a distinct perspective, crafting their stories through vivid language, rhythm, and raw emotion. Their performances are filled with evocative imagery, captivating audiences and immersing them in the complex tapestry of human experiences.

Did you know, one in five people in the United States lives with a disability? Some disabilities are visible, others less apparent—but all are underrepresented in media and popular culture. Come learn about the Disability Visibility Project and record an interview or audio postcard to reflect on your past, present and future through a conversation centered on the disability experience. Participants have the option of submitting their stories to the growing archive of disability culture and history. No specialized equipment required, bring a laptop or smartphone if you can. Attend one or both workshops. This event is sponsored by UAS One Campus, One Book. Open to anyone who self-identifies as living with a disability and (their) allies. UAS is committed to providing universal access to all of our events. Please contact Jonas Lamb, j.lamb@alaska.edu, 907-796-6440 to request disability accommodations (e.g., sign language interpreters, alternative formats). JG Rotary will host a silent auction commencing online on November 9th culminating in a live outcry auction on Nov. 17th at TK Maguire's. One of the main beneficiaries of this event is The Rotary Foundation, where raised funds benefit many local and global projects upon which Rotary International concentrates: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies, and protecting the environment. Local projects vary from district to district, however all are centered around improvement and needs of local communities. For JGR, Juneau's youth and families have benefitted through such endeavors as building and/or maintenance of several school and neighborhood playgrounds and Auke Lake family shelter, remodeling Zach Gordon kitchen, hosting of Family Fishing Day at the Lake and Free Skates at Treadwell Arena, sponsoring Salvation Army families in need and bell ringing as well as SEAFB food drives, providing funding to Spruce Root House, and also funding several annual UAS scholarships, to name a few. Your generosity during this event is literally felt from one to thousands of miles away.
Registering for the event is FREE and encouraged to give us a head count, and will be needed to bid and make purchases!

I have become an official promoter for the Miss Gay America system, establishing the very first Miss Gay Alaska America! I am eager to continue providing space and guidance to queens statewide and this is a great opportunity to do that. I hope you will support me in this effort and I'll see you November 17 & 18 in Juneau!

By land, sea, and sky, they ventured from Amorous’s active monastery and Delos the birthplace of Apollo to Turkey’s ancient sites at Ephesus and Pamukkale and on to Cappadocia and finally ‘Stanbul (and many places in between).
