DATE: January 9, 2024
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Juneau Arts and Humanities Council announces the 2024 Winter and Spring programs and events!

While in years past, the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council (JAHC) would be busy preparing for Wearable Art Extravaganza around this time, this year the JAHC has different programs to be expected this winter and spring season. Since Wearable Art Extravaganza is scheduled for September 21-22, 2024, the JAHC staff are able to put efforts into new events and old favorites, like Circus Jam, Technically Art Seminar Series, Gospel workshops, concerts, and more.

New to JAHC programming is Circus Jam!

The JAHC is excited to announce a new program series, Circus Jam, which started with its first session on Monday, January 8, 2024. Circus Jam is a movement based series that focuses on performance, circus aspects, acrobatic yoga, and aerial silks. It’s an opportunity to share tricks, learn from others, and immerse yourself in the supportive atmosphere of the circus community. Sessions are open to all ages and abilities while encouraging participants to let their inner performer out at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center (JACC). Grab your poi, diabolo, clown nose, juggling pins, and more and join fellow enthusiasts at the JACC for a free-form, collaborative experience. Suggested donations are $10 per attendee. Future dates for Circus Jam, which are scheduled for 7pm to 9pm, are: January 22, February 5, and March 11, 2024.

The Technically Art Seminar Series is a JAHC program that provides professional development opportunities for individuals, businesses, and organizations. Future Technically Art events include:

  • How to Publish A Book – January 20, 2024 from 10am-12pm at the JACC

  • Pricing for Artists: Online Sales & Merchandising – March 9, 2024 from 10am-12pm at the JACC

  • How to Create A Wearable Art Piece – April 27, 2024 from 12-2pm at the JACC

All singers, whether you’re an alto, soprano, tenor, or bass, are welcome to register for the February 19-22, 2024 workshops and join the choir led by Bobby Lewis with Eustace Johnson. Workshops will be followed by a dress rehearsal on Saturday, February 24 and a concert on February 25, 2024. Tickets are now available for singers to reserve their spot on the choir. Not a singer? You can still enjoy the music by purchasing concert tickets here.
