Virtual Gallery Call for Art Opportunities

The Juneau Arts & Humanities Council Announces Virtual Exhibition Opportunities for Alaskan Artists:

JAHC Juried Art Show

The Juneau Arts & Humanities Council announces a call for entries from individual artists for the 2021 Juried Art Show! Typically, the JAHC Juried Art Show runs every other year for one month in the Gallery at the JACC, but this year we will be hosting this exhibit virtually through the month of June. Join us in welcoming our juror for the 2021 exhibit: Tlingit artist Alison Bremner!

Summary of Guidelines: Artists living in Alaska are eligible to apply and may submit up to three individual works of art for consideration. All submissions must be original works completed within the last two years and not previously exhibited in Juneau. There is no fee to apply this year, but applicants are strongly encouraged to be current JAHC members. Applications are due no later than April 30, 2021 at midnight. Virtual review and selection of artwork will take place during the week of May 4-10; artists will be notified of the results on May 12; the exhibit install will take place from May 31-June 3; and the opening reception is scheduled for First Friday, June 4 from 4:30-7 PM.

Annual Alaska Breastfeeds Exhibition

The Alaska Breastfeeds Art Exhibition is a visual celebration, examination, and exploration of breastfeeding from the perspective of individual Alaskan artists. Visual artists residing in the state of Alaska are invited to respond to this call for entries in any medium which conceptually addresses the theme of breastfeeding. As a whole, the Alaska Breastfeeds Exhibition seeks to promote the normalization of breastfeeding as a normal, healthy, and natural way of feeding a baby or child in Alaska.

The 2021 Exhibition will be hosted virtually by the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council and available for viewing through the month of September. The deadline to apply is Sunday, August 15 by midnight AKST. Artists may submit up to three works for consideration.

About the JAHC Gallery Program

The Gallery Program is used to promote cultural awareness, stimulate creativity, educate, and provide a community service. This program supports both established, new, and emerging Alaskan artists showing new works by providing exhibiting opportunities, and while representing the broadest spectrum of visual art media. Gallery exhibits rotate on a monthly basis and open during First Friday, with virtual receptions from 4:30 – 7pm.

The Juneau Arts & Humanities Council will continue to offer virtual gallery exhibit opportunities to artists and gallery patrons as our community navigates through the pandemic. These exhibits can be viewed from a smartphone, tablet, or computer; any hour of the day from any location. Any artist currently scheduled for a virtual exhibition should visit www.jahc.org/virtual-exhibit-resources/ for more resources to help you better prepare your work for virtual platforms.
